Dev Log #1 Pre-Production


       As a member of the team project “Rat Race”, my responsibility is to design game UI for our game. At the end of last semester, we already finished a lot of preparation for real game work, including the requirement of each week and each member's work. So, this semester, we don’t need to do many projects pre-production and list out project requirements again. In week 1, our team discussed the game narrative of character dialogue in month 1 and some environment, character and game UI references.

       In designing a game script, we all want to make sure that the game script leads and guides the player properly. Although we carefully corrected every sentence, we were still not 100% sure. But our group was all fast in completing the game narrative efficiently. But unfortunately, one of our group members quit the group at the beginning of the semester due to personal health reasons. So, this means that if we need to implement the same plan as last semester, we need to share the duties and work demands of this member. So, in order to speed up the work of the group, the team decided to hold two separate meetings on Tuesday during class and Friday online. The team will also meet again on Wednesday if needed to speed up the project. If necessary, the team will reduce the amount of work required for less important tasks.

       I and My group's character designer through discussion, the game's art assets will present a simple cartoon style. In the game, the game UI will not be completed with highly saturated colours. In order to fit the background design, the character design and the theme of the whole game, the appearance of the UI will not be too abrupt. Keep as much space as possible to give us the narrative of the game.
